I am happy to be part of the alternative medicine community on the Outer Banks. For many years I have been interested in alternative health care in its many forms and curious about how it could be used as stand alone therapy, or as part of an integrated approach to healing. After a major life event for me at the end of 1999, I began searching for what my calling was in order to help people improve their lives. After much exploration into different healing modalities, I was drawn to hypnotherapy and began taking classes in 2003. I found that this was the one that seemed to “fit” for me. After practicing for a year as a Certified Hypnotherapist (CHt), I went back to school to take training to become a Master Hypnotherapist (MHt) and have been practicing as a MHt since then. I have also received attunements to be a Reiki practitioner. My training is in transpersonal hypnotherapy, which means that my belief is that each person has their own answers in the subconscious mind, and it is my job to help them find these answers. Other types of hypnotherapy are suggestive or directive, requiring you to only listen. In sessions with me the client is encouraged to participate as we engage the subconscious mind to look for answers and solutions. I am required to have continuing education each year, and I attend conferences and seminars regularly to explore new and different techniques to offer to my clients. Over the past few years, I’ve added HypnoBirthing to my practice and love the idea of bringing babies into the world in a calm, non-stressful way - for mother and for baby. I am happy to be associated with Dr. John Sanchez and the staff at Outer Banks Urgent Care. Although I do not belong to their organization, we work together to bring high quality care and healing to our shared clients. We are all partners on this journey through life.
